Main objectives:

Be better equipped to plan and execute RWE studies and other evidence generation initiatives that:

  • Are realistic, scientifically-driven, meaningful and robust

  • Focus on identified evidence gaps

  • Are aligned with commercial strategic imperatives

  • Support key value messages

  • Are built proactively and explicitly around key milestones

  • Incorporate learnings from company RWE efforts around the world

  • Have the right structure, external posture and forward view to ensure leadership in evidence generation in the Japanese market

Main responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess and report current workflows, processes and stakeholder interactions associated with the ideation, execution and reporting of Real World Evidence (RWE) studies in Japan.

  • Identify important regulatory and reimbursement trends and anticipate future changes and their impact on Japanese Access and RWE generation strategies

  • Gain better understanding of what competitors are doing in RWE in Japan

  • Based on this assessment, formulate and communicate recommendations and an actionable road map to elevate organisational capabilities in Real World evidence generation to ensure the efficiency, consistency, quality, timeliness and impact of such evidence generation as it relates to the demonstrating the full value of medicines.

  • Coordinate implementation of these recommendations ensuring cross-functional (local and global) support, input and IEG integration

  • Coach and mentor the development of members in the Japan RWE team to enhance their expertise and knowledge in order to support the sustainable development of the Japan RWE function

  • Formulate and deliver RWE training plans to enhance Japan’s technical capabilities in RWE, covering all phases from ideation to publication.

  • Lead (or co lead) RWE initiatives on a priority therapeutic area (TBC) oriented to the strategic imperatives of that therapeutic area.

  • Partner with Japan and global stakeholders to engage externally to explore, assess and create opportunities and build relationships related to Real World Data. This may include but not be limited to: maximising the value and utility of existing data sets; exploring linkage between existing data sets to better deliver against objectives; creation or formalisation of new data sets (in partnership with vendors, KOLs and/or professional societies)

Preferred experience and attributes:

  • Masters level qualification in HEOR, epidemiology, public health or related field

  • Significant experience in HEOR, Real World Research or related discipline

  • Demonstrated track record of leadership and performance in delivering against business objectives

  • Appetite for problem solving and ongoing interest in emerging methods in data sciences

  • Proven collaborator with strong communication skills and cross-cultural awareness
