Our client is a leading global medical device company seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager, Japan to lead its Japan business. This is a senior executive role with full P&L responsibility, accountability for strategic growth, and oversight of all commercial and operational functions in Japan.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping market strategy, driving sustainable revenue growth, and strengthening the company’s presence in one of its most important global markets.
Key Responsibilities

Full P&L ownership for the Japan business, including revenue growth, profitability, budgeting, and forecasting

Develop and execute the Japan market strategy aligned with regional and global objectives

Lead and develop cross-functional teams across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Regulatory, Quality, and Support functions

Drive commercial excellence, including pricing strategy, channel management, and key customer relationships

Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, distributors, hospital systems, and strategic partners

Ensure full compliance with Japanese regulatory, quality, and ethical standards

Represent Japan in regional and global leadership forums; provide clear, data-driven reporting to regional leadership and HQ

Identify and execute growth opportunities, including new product launches, market expansion, and strategic initiatives

Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and talent development
Qualifications & Experience

Proven senior leadership experience in the medical device or healthcare industry in Japan

Demonstrated track record of P&L management and driving profitable growth

Strong understanding of the Japanese healthcare market, reimbursement environment, and regulatory landscape

Experience managing complex organizations and leading senior teams

Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, global organization

Excellent strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and execution capability

Strong communication skills in Japanese and English (business-level fluency required)
