The Brand Manager is accountable for all aspects of brand management, including strategy development, product development, consumer communication and P&L management; and drives the growth of the brand business.

The Brand Manager plays a leading role in all strategic and marketing activities related to the brand, so we are looking fora marketer with the desire to learn and practice integrated marketing with analytical, creative and executional marketing skills.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the brand business:

  • Establish and update mid-long term brand visions, purpose, goal, objectives and strategy.

  • Plan and execute brand plans to deliver expected growth – including establishing brand equity through consumer communications

  • Manage brand business with internal and external stakeholders.

Strategy and Plan:

  • Short and long term Strategy and Planning outcomes- feedback from local and global stakeholders.

  • Brand KPI (e.g. awareness, key image attributes, marketing plan ROI etc.)

Brand Management:

  • Deliver annual budget.

  • Ensure marketing actions to secure the planned sales by working with trade marketing.

  • Assure the congruence of all brand activities to foster strong brand.

Communication:

  • Brand P&L to meet budget

  • Research Results (Ad Test, etc).

Marketing/Action Plan:

  • Feedback from stakeholders.

New product development:

  • Develop solid product pipeline plan with R&D based on consumer needs.

  • Develop product concepts with clear proposition and claims.

  • Lead business side of NPD management - scheduling, forecasting, internal approval, etc.

  • Deliver package design.

  • Pursue consumer research.

NPD Plan:

  • Timely internal approval (product development gates).

  • Research Results (Package design/STM if applicable).

  • Feedback from local and global stakeholders.

Launch:

  • Achievement of new product KPI tracking.

Contribution to the team and division and Team development:

  • Provide strong leadership on a brand team; not only marketing but includes Trade and Shopper marketing, R&D and others.

  • Manage and develop assigned junior marketing staffs.

  • Organization Process:

  • Lead and facilitate cross functional projects to improve operational efficiency and capability.

Team Environment and Performance

  • Feedback from local and global stakeholders.

HR/Talent MGMT:

  • Feedback from local stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Marketing management – market analysis, strategy development, consumer communication development, media planning, sales forecasting, Project management.

  • Leadership and team management

  • Creativity or Creativity management

  • Accounting basics, basic statistics

  • Native level Japanese / Fluent in English

  • Degree qualifications: Marketing, Psychology, Behaviour science, Economics, Statistics, etc. Business degree or MBA is preferable but not mandatory

  • Interfaces (e.g. with other functions or business units)* Trade Marketing, R&D, Medical ,Regulatory, Sales, Supply chain, CHC management, Global/regional Marketing.

Salary: 9-12.5M

Comments: It is expected that a brand manager leads cross functional brand team – managing internal resources as well as external resources such as agencies.
